Nose Osaka

Nose Osaka is a beautiful town surround by mountains to the north of  Osaka city. Nose is famous for the Nose Myokensan Temple and Jorui Theatre. Nose is a beautiful town surrounded by mountains, rice paddies, many native fauna and flora. You will be amazed to see the rural scenery for only one hour trip from the second busiest city in Japan. Nose is located in the northernmost part of Osaka. Take a Hankyu Takarazuka line from Hankyu Umeda Station and change the train at Kawanishi-noseguchi to Myoken-guchi (Noseden – Nose Railway) (50 min train trip). Joruri Theatre Joruri is a Japanese traditional puppet theatre, which is now very rate to experience in Japan but here in Nose, you can see this traditional art. About 200 years ago, Sugimura Ryosuke, who received joruri training in Osaka, began teaching Joruri in Nose. With this as a starting point, the first Joruri narrator in Nose was raised during early 19 century and Joruri shows were held frequently. The tradition of Nose Joruri was thus fostered by the local people as an indigenous performing art engaged in any spare time between farm works. Nose Joruri, performed in a unique style with only narratives and the accompaniment of Futozao Shamisen, without puppet performances, was selected as an intangible folk cultural property by Osaka Prefecture in 1974, and by the national government in 1999. After establishment of the Joruri Theatre in 1993, the Nose Ningyo Joruri Rokkakuza, a Joruri-performing company, was formed, adding puppet performances and musical accompaniment. Close Tuesdays Nose Myokensan Temple Nose Myokensan Temple is located on top of the beautiful Mt Myoken. It is a very scenic journey from Kawanishi-noseguchi to Myoken-guchi, which is the full line of on a Noseden line, which was originally developed just for the trip to this temple. After getting off at Myoken-guchi station, another scenic journey by cable car and lift is waiting for you. There are many beech trees on Mt Myoken including more than 100 trees with a circumference of 2 meters. Among them, the biggest one with 1.3 meter in diameter is designated as a natural treasure. It is also a great place for bird watching with more than 82 pieces found this area. Built in 1603, Nose Myokensan Temple is a Nichiren sect temple and attracts many visitors on a new year’s.
