Aims Speaking Japanese alone, however, is not sufficient — F.J.C.C.’s aim is to teach all students to be “Japan fluent”. Japan is a country dominated by customs and practices and this is reflected in the complex forms of the Japanese language. As such, customs and practices are all but invisible to foreigners and therefore barriers to proper integration into Japanese society. Accordingly, learning the Japanese language and living in Japan are perceived as being very difficult. Our teaching process will incorporate not only the teaching of language skills but will also focus on and rose in student’s awareness about the culture and etiquette inherent in the Japanese language. Outcome Those learning Japanese from the beginner to the advanced stage will be trained in all aspects of Japanese from writing, reading, comprehension and speaking as well as situational etiquette. It covers a wide range of topics to develop a student’s language to an advanced ability. The course also includes a focus on motivation to level of proficiency relevant for business. Those business professionals who are intending to travel to Japan or work with Japanese clients will also be taught workplace specific vocabulary and etiquette to ensure that they are able to sufficiently adapt to their working environment. V.C.E. Support Designed to assist year 11 and year 12 students taking Japanese as a V.C.E. subject. It consolidates students ‘knowledge of grammar and script acquired through prior study. Students will have clear explanation of grammar patterns and expand the knowledge of using kanji patterns. In addition students can improve their conversation skills or enhance their understanding of Japanese culture. Japanese Calligraphy (Shodo) A specialised art form using a brush and black ink to write kanji and Chinese characters. Using brush and ink enhances the beauty and fascination of Japanese calligraphy and also brings out you an understanding and appreciation of this wonderful art form. This course is designed for beginners to advanced level students. **Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement)**Suitable for students who may have some knowledge or even no knowledge of Ikebana. For students who are interested to advance their ikebana skills to a higher level, a wide variety of traditional and free style arrangement classes are available. Shogi This course is designed for students who have no prior knowledge of shogi. Shogi for beginners will learn the rules and strategies of shogi in detail It covers everything you need to know, from the opening through to the endgame, so that you can start playing right away.
